How does termite control in Margao work?

Termite control in Margao starts with finding where termites are getting in and feeding. We then treat that route rather than only spraying the damage you can see. Our Goa branch in Chimbel handles termite work across Margao (also called Madgaon) for flats, independent houses, villas, shops, offices, hotels, restaurants and building sites.

The termites that damage Goan buildings mostly live in the soil. They travel up through cracks, wall joints and gaps around pipes, often inside mud tubes they build to stay moist. Because the colony is underground, treatment focuses on the soil and the points where the building meets it, along with any woodwork already under attack. Our termite control service page explains the general approach.

What changes from one Margao property to another?

Margao has a wide mix of buildings. There are older Salcete homes with timber rafters, wooden ceilings and tiled roofs, and there are newer apartment blocks and commercial buildings in areas such as Fatorda and Navelim. Each needs a slightly different plan.

PropertyWhat we usually checkTypical approach
Older houses with timber roofs and ceilingsRafters, ceiling planks, door and window frames, damp wall basesDrill-fill-seal at wall bases, plus direct treatment of affected timber
Flats and housing societiesKitchen and wardrobe units, skirting, door frames, shaftsTreatment inside the flat, plus advice to the society on ground-floor and common areas
Shops, offices and stores near the market areaStored cardboard, paper records, shelving, wooden partitionsTreatment of floor-wall junctions and fixtures, plus advice on storing stock away from walls
Hotels, restaurants and cafesStores, kitchens, wooden furniture and fittingsScheduled treatment with documentation suited to food-safety audits
New construction sitesFoundations, plinth and backfillPre-construction soil treatment at the right construction stages

Some spaces need extra care because the material at risk is hard to replace. These include archives, libraries, record rooms and wooden shrine or temple fittings. We plan this work around what can and cannot be moved.

Which signs should you look for?

Termite damage often stays hidden until it is serious. It helps to check a few places regularly, especially after the monsoon, when walls and floors can stay damp for months.

  • Thin mud lines on walls, along skirting or inside cupboards
  • Wood that sounds hollow or gives way when pressed
  • Doors or windows that suddenly start to stick
  • Small heaps of shed wings near windows or lights, often seen around the first monsoon rains
  • Damaged paper, books or cardboard in stores and lofts

Fine powder and small round holes in furniture usually point to wood borer rather than termites. For that problem, see wood borer treatment in Margao. Our guide to termite warning signs in Goan homes covers the signs in more detail.

Our termite treatment process, step by step

  1. Inspection – We check rooms, woodwork, wall bases, the plinth and the outside of the building. We look for live activity, mud tubes, damp and entry points.
  2. Mapping – We note active trails and risk zones, so the plan treats the routes termites use and not just the visible damage.
  3. Plan and quotation – We set out the method, the areas to be treated, the likely time and what you need to prepare.
  4. Treatment – For occupied buildings, we drill small holes along floor-wall junctions and other entry points, inject termiticide into the soil below and seal the holes neatly. For new buildings, we treat the soil during foundation and plinth work. Affected woodwork is treated directly.
  5. Service report – After the visit we share a report showing the treated areas and the products used. Clients also receive updates on WhatsApp.
  6. Prevention and follow-up – We advise on damp, wood stacked against walls and gaps around pipes. Follow-up visits are scheduled where your agreement includes them.

This follows an Integrated Pest Management approach: inspection first, then sanitation and proofing advice, then targeted treatment where it is actually needed.

Pre-construction or post-construction: which do you need?

If you are building in Margao, pre-construction anti-termite treatment is carried out while the foundation and plinth are still open, in line with Indian Standard IS 6313 Part 2. It has to be timed with the builder's schedule, so contact us before excavation begins. Read more about pre-construction anti-termite treatment in Goa.

For a building that is already occupied, post-construction treatment under IS 6313 Part 3 is the usual route. See post-construction termite treatment in Goa. If you are buying an older house or flat in Margao, read our guide to termite inspection before buying property.

Is termite treatment safe in an occupied home?

We are a licensed pest control operator with the Directorate of Agriculture, Goa. We use CIB&RC-registered products, applied according to label directions, and we maintain Material Safety Data Sheets for every product we use.

Your technician will explain what to do before and after the visit. In general:

  • Clear the areas along walls and inside cupboards that will be treated, and remove food items.
  • Keep children and pets away from treated areas until they are dry, or for as long as the technician advises.
  • Open windows to ventilate, and wash your hands after touching treated surfaces.
  • Make sure a family member or representative stays present during the service.

If anyone feels unwell after a treatment, see a doctor and tell them what was used. The service report lists the products.

How we quote, and what the warranty covers

The cost of termite control depends on several factors:

  • The size of the property
  • How widespread the infestation is
  • Whether the work is pre-construction or post-construction
  • Any special areas, such as record rooms or stores

You receive a quotation setting out the scope before work begins.

For specific termite services, a warranty applies to the treated area, as set out in your service agreement. It does not cover untreated areas, structural changes or new construction after treatment, or termites coming in from a neighbouring property. It also depends on following the post-service instructions.

Frequently asked questions

QDo I need to leave my house during post-construction termite treatment?

That depends on which rooms are treated and how large the property is. Rooms being treated need to be cleared, and children and pets should stay away from treated areas until they are dry or as the technician advises. Drilling also makes some noise and dust. Most treatments are completed within a few hours, and the technician will give you an estimated time after the inspection.

QWill drilling damage my floor tiles or marble?

The holes are small, placed along floor-wall junctions and other entry points, and sealed after the treatment is injected. If you have marble, decorative tiles or old flooring you are worried about, mention it during the inspection. The technician can then discuss where holes should go, and whether some spots can be reached from a less visible side.

QTermites seem to come from the building next door. Will treating my home help?

Treating your property creates protection along the routes termites use to enter it, and the warranty applies to the area we treat. It cannot cover a neighbouring property that remains untreated. In flats and housing societies, results are usually better when the ground floor and common areas are treated too. Ask your technician how to reduce entry from outside.

QWhen should a builder in Fatorda or Navelim book pre-construction treatment?

Get in touch before excavation starts. Pre-construction soil treatment is done in stages while the foundation and plinth are open, so it has to fit the site schedule. Once flooring is laid, that opportunity is lost and only post-construction methods remain. Share your construction timeline and drawings so the visits can be planned around each stage.

QCan you provide records for a restaurant or hotel kitchen audit in Margao?

Yes. For food businesses, our documentation is prepared in line with HACCP and FSSAI audit expectations. You receive service reports showing the areas treated and the products used, and Material Safety Data Sheets are maintained for those products. Keep these records together so they are ready when an auditor or inspector asks for them.

QHow soon will I stop seeing termites after treatment?

Some activity may stop quickly, while other areas can take a few days to show clear improvement. Old mud tubes stay on walls until you remove them, so check whether new ones appear rather than looking at the old ones. If fresh activity continues in a treated area, let us know so it can be checked against your service agreement.
